Jonathan began working at Doak Shirreff Lawyers LLP as a student in 2014, and has been a lawyer with the firm since 2016.
Previously practicing within the firm’s commercial and civil litigation group, he has represented clients in Provincial and Supreme Court trials, administrative tribunals and mediations.
He has since shifted his practice into the Doak Shirreff’s business law, construction law and real estate law groups, using his past litigation experience to inform proactive solutions to ensure his clients goals are met while avoiding unnecessary risk to their operations.
His practice has a primary focus in employment and business law with additional experience working with societies, non-profit organizations and charities.
He also works within Doak Shirreff Lawyers’ real estate and business transactions group.
Nancy is a partner with FH&P Lawyers LLP.
Nancy practices in the areas of wills, trusts, estate and incapacity planning, estate administration, residential and commercial real estate, property matters, corporate transactions and business law.
Nancy obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in French and English from the University of St. Francis Xavier in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
In 2009, she obtained her Law Degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
Nancy then moved to the Okanagan where she articled and practiced as an associate with a law firm in Vernon.
She was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2010, joined FH&P Lawyers LLP as an associate in 2013 and joined the partnership in 2018.
When she is not in the office you can find her outdoors taking advantage of everything the Okanagan has to offer in the summer and winter months.
Alex is a shareholder at Pihl Law Corp. He practices primarily in construction and commercial litigation. He has a particular interest in insurance coverage claims and surety disputes and has represented sureties and bond holders in a variety of complex construction projects across British Columbia and Alberta.
Alex has represented clients in all levels of court in British Columbia, the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and the Cour supérieure du Québec.
Alex was born in Lake Placid, New York and lived in Colorado and Florida before attending the University of Florida.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. After graduating from the University of Florida, Alex worked for renowned U.S. trial attorney Dorothy Clay Sims and assisted her in preparing for the cross examinations of defense-side medical experts in personal injury cases.
Alex then went on to attend McGill University’s Faculty of Law where he obtained his Bachelor of Common Law (LL.B.) and Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) degrees. He represented McGill in Vienna, Austria at the Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot and received an honourable mention for best oralist.
After law school Alex articled with a national firm in Montreal before moving to Vancouver in 2016. In March, 2022 Alex moved to Kelowna and joined Pihl Law Corporation.
Stefani is an associate with Rush Ihas Hardwick LLP who maintains a commercial litigation practice focused on banking and financing disputes. She routinely acts for private lenders in foreclosures and other creditors’ remedy matters. She has significant experience handling real estate disputes including collapsing transactions and forcing co-owners to sell. Additionally, Stefani has a keen interest in complex fraud and misappropriation cases.
As an advocate, Stefani is assertive and proficient in the courtroom. She frequently appears before the British Columbia Supreme Court. She has significant trial experience as a junior associate, and she has also appeared before the Court of Appeal on a successful decision affirming the legal principles related to the renewal of a judgment.
Stefani obtained her Juris Doctorate from Thompson Rivers University in 2020. She was called to the British Columbia bar in 2021. Stefani’s legal experience belies her relatively few years as a member of the bar. Before attending law school Stefani worked for more than a decade as a legal assistant. She specialized in real estate conveyancing for residential, commercial, and agricultural lands. This experience aided Stefani’s success at law school where she made the Dean’s List, achieved course prizes, and was a selected editor of the Canadian Journal of Comparative and Contemporary Law.
Micheal is a shareholder at Pihl Law Corp. He carries on a practice in family law and estate litigation. His family law practice involves division of property, custody, access and support issues. His estate practice includes disputes that arise before and after death dealing with wills variation, committeeship applications and undue influence cases. Michael is also a qualified family and civil mediator.
Michael enjoys the inherent challenges posed by his work and the opportunity to provide innovative solutions for his clients. He thinks it is particularly important to have an open mind and listen to his client’s concerns and by taking that client-centered approach he finds that he can achieve the best results. Ultimately, any case comes down to identifying established priorities and having a good strategy and he strives to assist his clients in developing both.
Outside the office Michael enjoys spending time with his family. Depending on the season he's camping with his family, mountain biking, or skiing on one of the local hills.
Rob is an associate in the Kelowna - Landmark office of Lawson Lundell and a member of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group.
His expertise lies heavily in resolving commercial, construction, corporate and shareholder disputes involving litigation, arbitration and mediation.
Rob articled with and spent the first four years of his practice in Vancouver as a litigation associate at a leading national firm before taking on the role of in-house litigation counsel for Avigilon Corporation, a Motorola Solutions company.
He then became an associate in the Kelowna office of a leading Western Canadian law firm before joining Lawson Lundell.
Shaped by his role as in-house litigation counsel, Rob brings a pragmatic, business-focused approach to the resolution of legal disputes.
Rob has appeared before the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Provincial Court of British Columbia, and has assisted on matters before the Federal Court of Canada.
